Serving the best of local produce
Local chef, restaurateur and food writer Mark Hix opened The Fox Inn in December 2020. Nestled in the Dorset countryside, just four miles from Beaminster, the pub is open Tuesday to Sunday. Please note that we are open for drinks only on Tuesday lunchtimes from 1st June.
Enjoy food and drink sourced from the South West in the warm and welcoming surroundings of our 17th Century Grade II listed pub. Settle in by the open fire with bar snacks and a real ale or dine on locally sourced food and drink in the Garden Room with a wine list that champions British winemakers.
Take in the beautiful views of fields and rolling hills from the outdoor seating area.
Please note we can only accommodate bookings of up to 10 guests in the Garden Room.
Bookings for 11 or more will be seated in The Fox private dining room and invited to order from our Feast Menus. Find more details here.

Working closely with local brewers, a good selection of beers from the South West are always featured alongside guest beers and a seasonal cocktail list showcasing local spirits such as Black Cow pure milk vodka and Julian Temperley’s Somerset Cider Brandy. The wine list reads as a charming tour of the local vineyards including Lyme Bay Winery and boutique vineyard, Castlewood who we have worked closely with to create our very own Devon Minnow Bacchus.
